Ted Lapidus
Ted Lapidus is a French fashion brand that was launched in 1951 by the designer Edmond Lapidus who was just 22 years old at the time. Being a son of a tailor, he carried the passion for fashion in his veins, while his apprenticeship with Christian Dior gave him the final touches he needed in order to take his fashion design gift to the next level.
The brand is most famous for its unisex style that was a great success in the 1960s. Except for the widely used safari elements and military symbols featuring his collections, the brand Ted Lapidus also helped with the popularizing of the blue jeans in the world of fashion.
Ted Lapidus was extremely popular among world famous celebrities like Twiggy, Alain Delon, Brigitte Bardot and the Beatles, (especially John Lennon). The brand is also known for using innovative for that time production techniques, making their products more affordable to the mass market.
The 1970s saw the expansion of the brand into accessories and fragrances. Ted Lapidus is among the first brands to partner with a cosmetics company (L’Oreal) for the production of their perfumes. Today the brand is no longer offering fashion as it is focused exclusively on fragrances and accessories, offering hundreds of successful products all over the world.
