Donna Karan New York is an American fashion company founded by designer Donna Karan and her late husband Stephan Weiss. The daughter of a tailor and a showroom model, fashion runs in Donna Karan's blood. She started designing for Anne Klein in the 1970s and launched her own brand in 1984. The designer achieved fame for her women's collections built around seven simple, interchangeable pieces, designed to take a woman from day into night.
The first perfume, Donna Karan for Women, was launched in 1992. In collaboration with Estee Lauder, new fragrances for men and women were offered throughout the 1990s. In 2001 the company was purchased by French corporation Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy but perfumes continue to be offered under the Donna Karan Beauty and DKNY labels.
Donna Karan has 141 perfumes in her fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 1992 and the newest is from 2017. Donna Karan fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Rodrigo Flores-Roux, IFF, Alberto Morillas, Harry Fremont, Trudi Loren and many others.
