Rochas
The French fashion house Rochas was founded in 1925 by Marcel Rochas. For over 25 years the brand offered women’s fashion that gracefully complimented the traditional feminine silhouette. Marcel Rochas was the first to create the “mermaid” dress, which is still a true inspiration for many women around the world.
The first Rochas perfumes, Avenue Matignon, Air Jeune and Audace, were launched together in 1934. As the company’s perfume and cosmetics division became greatly successful, in 1954 Marcel Rochas decided to close the brand’s haute couture division and focus the brand on perfumes and beauty products.
It was Marcel Rochas’s wife, Helene, just 30 years old at that time who turned Rochas into the multi-million-dollar company we know today. She sold the company in 1971 and it has had several owners since then. Today Rochas is part of the multinational group Procter & Gamble. As their main focus is still perfumes, they also have their in-house perfumer, Jean-Michel Duriez, who has been the creative power behind their fragrances ever since 2008.
