The founder of the French brand Lalique, René Lalique, had a lot of gifts. He was an artist, a ceramist, and a jeweler. His first successes came while he was working as a freelance artist for famous jewelry brands like Cartier and Boucheron.
His craftsmanship and experience gradually led him to the establishment of his own brand, Lalique, which took place in 1885. He was the first to change the emphasis on stones in jewelry and turn it to design, creative forms, and styles.
One of the most famous and most often plagiarized jeweler, René Lalique conquered another sphere of the fashion industry as well – glassware. But this was not enough for his creative nature, so he embarked on a rather profitable (at the time) undertaking – designing perfume bottles. Back in the days perfumes were sold on tap, so you had to buy the perfume and then buy a bottle for it. Needless to say, they were immense success among the fine ladies looking for a precious bottle to contain their luxurious perfumes in.
Later on, he totally changed the look of perfumery by developing a process, through which the production of perfume bottles on a massive scale became possible, thus creating the current look of the contemporary perfume, sold in its own beautifully designed bottle.
One of the oldest perfume houses, Lalique boasts about some of the finest perfumes in the perfume industry. Today this statute is achieved with the help of perfumers like Michel Almairac, Sophia Grojsman, Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann, Jean-Claude Ellena, Christine Nagel, Dominique Ropion, Philippe Romano, Anne Flipo, etc.
