Jil Sander

Jil Sander is a German fashion designer who opened her first boutique at the early age of 24. The boutique offered famous designers’ clothes by Thierry Mugler and Sonia Rykiel, among others, but she gradually started marketing her own clothes there. Her fashion house, Jil Sander GmbH, was founded in 1978.

The luxurious fabrics she used, together with her minimalist approach towards fashion helped her create fashionable clothes that were easy to mix, match, and layer. Her impact on fashion during the 80’s and 90’s was huge, but she decided to retire early, at the peak of her success.

The first perfumes, created by Jil Sander, Pure Woman and Pure Man, were both launched in 1979. Today the fragrances, offered by the brand, are made in collaboration with Coty. They are designed with the help of famous perfumers like Thierry Wasser, Annick Menardo, Pierre Bourdon, Mark Buxton and many others.
