Balmain

The famous French brand Balmain is currently owned by Inter Parfums and the designer behind the brand is the well-known French fashion designer Pierre Balmain.

A historic French fashion house, Balmain was established towards the end of WWII when Pierre Balmain opened his own fashion house. His extremely feminine and opulent designs were not only warmly welcomed by French women but they were also very well accepted by celebrities from Europe and Hollywood (as well as by many other influential women of the day).

The style he is most famous for is called “Jolie Madam” and it was very different from what French women were used to wear during the war years. He won women’s hearts with bell skirts, nipped waists, beautiful evening dresses and feminine suits.

The first perfume that was launched by the brand Balmain was Elysées 64-83. It was launched in 1945 and was named after the designer’s phone number! A series of successful perfumes were launched in the following years, including the famous Vent Vert (1947) which is still in production today!
