Gucci
The Italian fashion house Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. He was working in a London hotel when he was inspired by the style of the rich clients of the hotel and this inspiration lead him to the developing of a business that, almost a century after its foundation, is among the top 100 global brands.
Gucci has been known for its high quality leather products ever since its founding, but, when leather was a scarce product, during the WW II, it was Guccio Gucci’s innovative thinking that saved the brand as he expanded the brand’s line to products made of different materials like hemp, linen and jute.
The first fragrance by the Gucci brand is Gucci No. 1 for women. It was launched in 1974. Some of the perfumers behind the great Gucci fragrances are Michel Almairac, Dominique Ropion, Daniela (Roche) Andrier, Guy Robert, Karine Dubreuil, Maurice Roucel, Firmenich, and Lorenzo Villoresi.
